Hunting and fishing North Carolina is regulated by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (WRC)
. The WRC gives municipalities the option of participating in a specified Urban Archery season by submitting a letter of intent to participate in the season along with a map clearly defining the area to be included in the season.
The established dates for North Carolina’s 2017 Urban Archery season are Jan. 14, 2017 – Feb. 18, 2017.
Huntersville submitted a letter of intent along with this town boundaries map
to the state in order to participate in the program. Urban archery season only applies to land within our town limits. Hunting is prohibited on public property. The Town of Huntersville does not maintain a list of private properties where hunting can occur. Hunters must have permission from property owners to hunt on their properties.
All Hunting Regulations
apply. Hunters must follow regular deer season regulations, such as licensing, tagging, reporting, permission from landowners and all other safety regulations.
The Urban Archery Season does not obligate private landowners to allow hunting on their property, nor does it eliminate the ethical requirement for obtaining permission from the land - owner before hunting. The town does not maintain any lands for hunting. Hunters are legally required to obtain written permission to hunt on posted property
